What if I change my mind?

If you cancel within 30 days we will refund the payment you have made. For details of cancellation terms after 30 days, please see the terms and conditions.

What happens once I’ve taken out a plan?

When your Care Funeral Plan is accepted, you will receive a membership pack including a membership card and a summary of plan information and, once your plan is fully paid, a certificate containing your plan number (with a spare certificate to give to your next of kin). If you have chosen to pay by fixed monthly payments, your certificates will be sent after 2 years’ continuous payment.

We may also call you to make sure you are happy with the details of your plan and payment choice.

Can I buy a policy for a member of my family?

Yes, simply complete the ‘plan holder’s representative’ section of the application process.

We will arrange for all correspondence to be sent to the representative, however if paying by fixed monthly payment, please note the plan holder will be contacted directly by the AXA Wealth Ltd who provide this payment option.

Can I choose my own Funeral Director?

If you have a preferred funeral director, you can let us know when you apply. If you don’t have any preference, we will simply appoint a funeral director near to you from our network of local independent funeral directors. Care Funeral Plans will make every effort to allocate your plan to your selected funeral director, however this is not always possible. If this is the case, we will contact you to advise you of this and discuss an alternative choice of funeral director.”

What if I move home?

Please let us know you are moving so we can update our records. We can also recommend some local funerals directors in your new area, if required.

What happens if my Funeral Director goes out of business?

We will inform you if this happens and appoint a new funeral director of your choice.

What if I have special requests for my funeral?

If you have any special requests at your funeral, please just let us know of your wishes and we can accommodate. “If these incur additional costs, not covered by your plan, you will need to cover these additional cost at the time of the funeral.

What happens when I die?

When the time comes your family simply contacts the funeral director and quotes your plan number that is provided in your documents and also to your next of kin, The funeral director will then take care of all the arrangements.

What happens with my money?

Your payments are protected. Depending on how you have chosen to pay, your money will be paid into a Trust or a life insurance policy with AXA Wealth Ltd. It will be held there until needed to pay for your funeral arrangements.

Is a Funeral plan a will?

No, your funeral plan is not a substitute for your will, you must ensure you have an effective will in place that will document your wishes to what happens with your estate when you die.

What is a Will?

A Will is a document which expresses your wishes for what happens with your estate when you die. When you die a copy of the Will should be passed to your executors who will aim to fulfil your wishes in accordance with the instructions in your Will.

Where is my Will stored?

Care UK can either store your Will in a secure location (if you have chosen to include this in your plan) or send it back to you for safe keeping.

What if I already have a Will?

You can use your Care UK Will as an opportunity to update your existing Will with a new one. Alternatively, you might consider gifting it to a family member or friend.
