Why should I take out a Funeral Plan?

A funeral plan is a policy by which you can pre pay and protect your family against the rising costs of funerals and to eliminate any uncertainty or indecision with your wishes.

There is never a good time to talk about the passing of a loved one and even more so yourself, it is also a very difficult and daunting time for those responsible for arranging and paying for the funeral, this is why so many people are having the foresight in taking out a funeral plan. All money paid into a Care Funeral plan is invested securely in a trust and overseen by designated trustees.

Although a Funeral plan will not help you deal with a passing, it does go an enormous way to reliving a sense of distress with unnecessary arrangements.

The rising cost of Funerals

Funeral costs are going up every year. You might be surprised to hear that, while the average cost of a funeral in 207 was £1,920* today, it’s £3,693. That’s nearly 100% increase in ten years, Well above inflation.

It’s fair to say that if history is anything to go by then the average cost of a Funeral plan in ten years could be more than £6,5000 With funeral costs rising every year* a Care Funeral Plan offers an easy way to pay for your funeral director’s services at a cost that’s fixed at current prices.

What is included in our plans

We offer four key plans to choose from so you can pick the one that best suits your needs. Whichever plan you choose, all guarantee to cover the funeral director’s own services for either a cremation or burial.

We Cover Essential Third Party Costs

As well as the funeral director's own services, the cost of a funeral also includes certain essential third party costs. These include fees for cremation or burial, and fees for the clergy or officiant. These costs are beyond the control of your funeral director but will be paid by them at the time.

The Standard, Select and Premier Plans include a £940 allowance towards essential third party costs.

Only if these costs were to increase more than the growth of the plan might there be more to pay at the time of the funeral.

  • The funeral director’s services
  • Advice on the certification and registration of the death and related documentation
  • The coffin
  • Transportation of the deceased to a suitable resting place within a 15 mile radius
  • Care of the deceased prior to burial or cremation
  • Use of a chapel of rest or service rooms
  • A hearse to a local cemetery or crematorium
